Recently I resolved to finishing the book and so got it done, made easier because this book turns around at the half way mark and becomes quite fascinating as we approach Lenin's death and the machinations of his various successors, Stalin in particular/5.

Robert Payne's "The Life and Death of Lenin", published inis a highly readable biography of the man who, having absorbed Marx, molded the philosophy to his own means.
